This is where the wall met with the smooth ceiling dome. Then there is that final panel at the top of the wall section. The hexels got smaller as they got higher on the wall, and because of the curve the panels got smaller. I don't know what they were leaning it against, but obviously part of it was red and it shown through the clear part of the hexel.Īnd now you can see why those stacked panels above had different-sized hexels, and why some panels had more hexels than others. This was a section of the set wall that was auctioned off at Bonham's a few years ago. First, ignore the reddish-colored round bits of those hexels on the left. Here's an eye-opener: a completed wall section, floor to where it meets that smooth part at the top as the ceiling curves to meet the "beehive" atop the console's central column. The hexels themselves are painted the most opaque almost no light gets through them except in the round centers. and one more hexel close up, to see more of the paint scheme. (Different sized hexels? Different number of hexels per panel? Hang about almost there.)įirst we have a close-up of a hexel and the paint scheme. This is a great one for seeing how the panels were painted grey, and then "spritzed" with a greenish-yellow here and there. Here is a stack of painted wall panels waiting for their installation and we're seeing them from their fronts (the side that will face into the console room). Here we have a wall panel - again from the back - installed (with no props guys to block the view. (The paint isn't as opaque as it looks from this angle, but notice the round part of the hexels is still clear.) Next is a photo of props guys (from the back) installing a painted wall panel. (Notice the pane is still clear except for the grey-painted parts of the hexels.) Also, as you'll see a bit later, the lights in the ceiling behind them are going to be part of the walls' lighting system.
